This video is going to cover how to edit the front page of a Studiopress website using a front page customizer. Now for some background, WordPress is gradually changing. Starting about two years ago – they handle pages using their new block builder called Gutenberg. So, this tutorial won’t apply to everyone. However, for StudioPress themes that were created more than a couple years ago, this still does apply.
Alright, so this is the front page customizer, which we use to edit the front page of the site. And how we get there is starting with our dashboard, we’re going to go to appearance and customize.
Now, there’s a lot that you can do using this customizer. And as you can see, you can make edits here in the sidebar, while seeing the changes in real time, right here. So the sidebar can control you know, a lot of themes, setting menus, all kinds of things, but the widgets is where we’re going to go to actually make changes within the sections of the site. So you can see that the customizer has affordances for front page one, page two, front page three. And basically it’s just dividing up the front page of the site into sections. And within these sections, you can add all kinds of widgets.
All we’re gonna do today is edit the custom HTML widget that’s already here. This widget is displaying a headline and two buttons. So that’s where we make those edits within the widget.
So if you’re looking for how to change the front page of your site, to recap, go ahead and go to appearance on the back end customizer and then click into your widgets and into the front page section that you’re going to edit.
