Service has been at the core of Hedden’s Pharmacy since our beginning in 1953. Kenneth, a Tacoma native, started as a pharmacist in Alaska for his first job. When the Alaska pharmacy was set to be sold, he and his wife Barbara returned to Washington and bought a pharmacy in Tenino.

Hedden’s Pharmacy originally opened in a small building on Sussex Avenue and moved to its current location in 1955. The Tenino sandstone mortar and pestle, carved by local master carver Keith Phillips in 1980, marks the most recent of two expansions and is a city landmark.

In 2021, as local pharmacies all over the country shut their doors, a group of local pharmacy owners purchased Hedden’s Pharmacy while retaining as many of Hedden’s family members on staff as possible. Today, Hedden’s Pharmacy operates as a Cascadia Pharmacy Group member. The group is comprised of over 30 independent, locally owned pharmacies across the Northwest.
