For 40+ years Lopez Island Pharmacy has been the heart of healthcare on the island, starting back in 1978 when Dana Arnold first opened Fisherman Bay Pharmacy. Before Dana, islanders had to ferry or fly to Friday Harbor just to get prescriptions. Though we tragically lost Dana in 1985, his spirit of neighborly care lived on through various owners who kept the doors open, including Ron and Karan Buckmaster who added a beloved soda fountain. In 1994, Rick and Marge McCoy arrived, expanding what the pharmacy could offer while raising their family right here, proving that a local pharmacy isn’t just about filling prescriptions, it’s about neighbors taking care of neighbors through every season of island life.

Today, we’re honored to carry this tradition forward under new ownership by Josuah Tilus, who’s deeply committed to keeping that special community touch you’ve come to expect. With the Lopez Island team staying on (including Rick & Marge’s daughter Megan as the lead pharmacy tech), so you’ll see the same familiar faces and receive the same compassionate service you’ve trusted for years.
